Hired Gun Musician

I’ve played hundreds of shows, from birthday parties to Broadway shows, and from weddings to wakes.  I’m lucky that I learned as a kid to play both by ear and from sheet music, and my work in college kept me firmly in both worlds.  I’m comfortable sight-reading a pit orchestra score, or jumping onstage to follow the bass player through the changes of something I’ve never heard before.

I’ve covered last second (sometimes literally) for blues Hammond-B3 players, classical concert pianists, Sr. Mary-Catherine the organ playing nun, honky-tonk plunkers, and the Rocky Horror Motion Picture Show, when two different bands quit because of a difficult director during tech week.

I’m always happy to help out if I can – I know that feeling you get when you have to get a gig covered and can’t find anybody to do it.  I can learn from an mp3 or sheet music, and I’ll learn your setlist overnight.  I’ve worked as a music director, a choir director, and vocal coach, as well as guitar/bass instructor.

I’ve also got extensive experience with ecclesiastical/worship/service music – I’ve played in traditional Baptist, Modern Christian, Catholic, and Episcopalian services, as well as non-traditional and contemporary services.
